Adding Additional Domain Controller for an Existing Domain
- Click Start | type Run | DCPROMO
- Click Next in the Welcome screen
- Click Next in the Operating System Comparability
- Select Additional domain controller for an existing domain radio button, Click Next
- In the Network Credential, type User Name, Password, and Domain if it has not fill in already
- Wait for the credential to be verify
- If you are getting a message An Active Directory domain controller for the domain (Your Domain) could not be contacted try pinging the IP address and the Name of the domain controller.
- If you could ping IP address but not the name then check your DNS server to see if it started
- Once you are able to join an existing domain, you will get to the Additional Domain Controller
- Verify that the name in the Domain Name box is the domain you want to join
- Click Next
- In the Database and Log Folders, make sure that is the place to store the Database and log files. Change it if necessary. I recommend to leave it as is
- Click Next
- In the Shared System Volume leave it as default and click Next
- In the Directory Services Restore Mode Administrator Password, enter the password. It is recommended that you have a password for Restore Mode.
- Click Next
- Click Next
- Wait for the wizard to configure the Active Directory
- Click Finish after Active Directory Configuration is completed
- Restart the Computer
