Convert your old computer into Virtual PC
If you just purchase a new computer with Windows 7 and you would like to turn your old computer into a virtual pc because you would like to access files, folders, or programs/applications on it then do the following. Note: This may require you to reactivate your product key.
1. Click the link http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/ee656415.aspx to download Disk2vhd v1.62.
2. Once you have download and unzipped it, click dsk2vhd to start the install

3. Click Agree
4. Check the drive that you would like to covert to as Virtual. Notice the Space require. Make sure you save it to the location that have the minimum space required. You can change the save location by clicking the button with 3 dots to the right. Check the box Prepare for use in Virtual PC. Click Create.
5. Wait for the conversion to complete. The time it will take depend on the size of the drive you are converting.
6. Click the following link to download Windows Virtual PC if you don't have it http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx. Then click the drop down to select Windows 7 version and language.
7. Click Start > Run > type vpcwizard > Click OK or press Enter
8. Type in the name and either go with the default location or change it by clicking Browse. Default location is recommended. Click Next
9. Assign RAM size and check Use computer network connections. Click Next.
10. Select Use an existing virtual hard disk and navigate to where the Virtual PC file located by clicking Browse button.
11. Click Start > Windows Virtual PC > Manage Virtual Machines or click Start > All Programs > Scroll to Windows Virtual PC
12. Select the Virtual PC Windows XP or whatever you name it above.
13. Click Yes
14. Log in
15. Select Yes, let's activate Windows over the Internet now and click Next
16. Select No, I don't want to register now, let's just activate Windows and click Next
17. Enter the product key
18. After your windows product have been activated, you are all set
Note: The product keys from your old machine might or might not activate since it is already been use on your old machine. You can call Microsoft and let them know what you are trying to do and they will probably give you another product key.
