How to create an offline file or files
Enable Offline Files
- Click My Computer
- In My Computer, go to Tools menu
- Select Folder Options
4. Click Offline Files tab and check Enable Offline Files.
5. Check Create an Offline Files shortcut on the desktop (recommended for easy access)
6. Check Encrypt offline files to secure data (recommended only if the file or folder contain private information)
7. Check other checkbox if you like
8. Click Apply and OK

9. If Enable Offline Files is disable, click Start type gpedit.msc and click OK
10. Expand User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Network and select Offline Files
11. On the right side, double click Prohibit user configuration of offline files

12. Select Disabled then click Apply and OK
Make file or folders available offline
1. Right click a folder that is not located locally on your computer (On the network) or a network drive and select Make Available Offline.
2. Click Next
3. Check Automatically synchronize the Offline Files when I log on and log off my computer if you want the synchronize to run when log on and log off and click Next
4. Check Enable reminders and Create a shortcut to the Offline Files folder on my desktop
5. Click Finish
5. Click Finish
6. Synchronization complete
7. You should see this shortcut icon on your desktop
7. Notice the drive with the down and up arrow. This tell you that the drive has been made available offline.
NOTE: Depend in the the setting, when your computer first log on the network or log off or both, it will synchronize anything you changed to the offline files and anything that is changed to files by other users.
Deleting Offline Files
- Click My Computer
- In My Computer, go to Tools menu
- Select Folder Options
- Click Offline Files tab and click Delete Files
5. Select Delete only the temporary offline versions or Delete both the temporary offline versions and the versions that are always available offline. Click OK
To setup synchronization at log in, after log off or both:
1. Click My Computer
2. Click Tools and select Synchronization

3. Click Setup
4. Check When I log on to my computer, When I log off my computer, both or any other checkbox
5. Click Apply and OK
6. Click Close
7. Depending what box you checked, synchronize will run when log on, off or both.

Synchronize offline files and folders manually
1. Click My Computer
2. Click Tools and select Synchronization
3. Click Synchronize

4. Wait for synchronize to complete

Synchronize offline files and folders when idle
1. Click My Computer
2. Click Tools and select Synchronization
3. Click Setup

4. Click On Idle tab
5. Check Synchronize the selected items while my computer is idle and click Advanced
5. Check Synchronize the selected items while my computer is idle and click Advanced
6. Check both boxes and set the time accordingly or go with the default. Click OK
7. Click Apply and OK
