How to Use Encryption/Decryption
Encrypting
- Right click any folder and choose Properties
2. On the General tab, click the Advanced button
3. Check the box labeled Encrypt contents to secure data, and click OK
5. Click Apply
6. If necessary, click the Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and filesradio button to encrypt any objects in this folder and it subfolders. If you do not want to apply the changes to all subfolders and files, you select Apply changes to this folder only then click OK
NOTE: Whenever you save anything into that folder, it will automatically become encrypted

7. Wait for the folder to be encrypted
8. Notice that the file color turn green meaning that it is encrypted.
NOTE: If you move the file somewhere else, it is no longer encrypted.

Decrypting
1. Right click the folder that has been encrypted and select Properties
2. Click Advanced
3. Unchecked Encrypt contents to secure data and click OK
4. Click Apply
5. Select Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files if it has not been chosen by default.
6. Click OK
7. Open the folder and notice that the file and folder is no longer green
NOTE: If you want to use the command prompt to decrypt a folder or file use the following. The command for decrypt all files in the C:\my document folder is: CIPHER /D C:\My Documents\*.*
