Protecting Yourself from Phishing and Pharming
- Never provide personal information when ask in an email
- Don't click on link in email. Instead copy and paste into web browser address field
- Communicate Securely. When you filled out a form online, make sure it is encrypted. Looks for the key lock symbol and https:
- Install Anti-Spam filter (Cloudmark Desktop)
- Install Block Phishing site program (Netcraft)
- Install program that can identify a bogus site (Spoofstick)
- An IP address in the address field is a red flag. Sign of Spoofing
- Keep computer software up-to-date
- Enabled Vista's Anti-Phishing features. Click here for instructions
