Show File Extensions
Method 1
1. Click Start
2. Select Control Panel
3. If your Control Panel does not look the like the picture shown, in the upper right next to View by: click the drop down arrow and select either Large icons or Small icons.
4. Click Folder Options in the Control Panel

4. Click Folder Options in the Control Panel
5. Click View tab in the Folder Options window
6. Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types
7. Click Apply
8. Click OK

Method 2
- Click Computer
- On Computer screen, click Organize
- Select Folder and search options
4. Click View tab in the Folder Optionswindow
5. Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types
6. Click Apply
7. Click OK

7. Click OK
NOTE: Showing file extension can save time from having to right click and chose properties to find out what the extension is. On the downside, if you decided to rename the file you will want to make sure that you don't erase the extension or else the file does not associate with any programs.
